Opioids

Opioids have become increasingly prevalent a substance of abuse particularly as abuse of prescription medications. Heroin remains a significant substance of abuse as well. â€‹Notoriously difficult withdrawal is a well-known aspect of cessation of opioid use. Dr. Dhrymes has extensive experience treating this, and even trains other physicians in doing so. In supporting the ongoing recovery from opioid abuse, Dr. Dhrymes recommends a detailed assessment, motivational interviewing, and treating co-occurring disorders. If medication is something you are interested in, Dr. Dhrymes can prescribe buprenorphine and naltrexone. Particularly at the outset of treatment however, these are typically insufficient stand-alone treatments but do work well as adjuncts to other treatment modalities.
